How to Join the Club?

Step 1: Contact Membership Co-ordinator

If you are considering joining the club then you should contact the Club Membership Co-ordinator on a Friday or Sunday during the club hours at the Bucksburn Swimming Pool. You can also contact the Membership Co-ordinator by phone or email which can be found on the Bucksburn notice board and the website. The Membership Co-ordinator will take your name, contact details and put you on the Waiting List. When places are available you will be notified of a swim trial date when you will be assessed for your swimming ability and admitted to a squad.

Step 2: Pay S.A.S.A. Club Membership (one-off):

You must complete the S.A.S.A. Club Membership form and return it with the correct S.A.S.A. fee (Fee is shown on the form) to the Membership Co-ordinator promptly after the admission is confirmed.

In due course you will receive your S.A.S.A. membership card. Please keep it safe as the membership number is required for most competition entry form. The club also keeps this record.

Membership of S.A.S.A provides insurance cover for the swimmer and is mandatory in order to allow swimmers to compete in competitions. S.A.S.A. require the form to be returned to them within four weeks of a swimmer joining the club, otherwise the club may be liable to a fine or suspension.

Step 3: Pay Monthly Fees

You must also pay the first Monthly Fee along with your S.A.S.A. Membership form. (This will be charged as half the amount if you join after 15th of the month). The current monthly tariffs are:

Aqua1, Aqua2 and Aqua3 squads = £13 p.m.
Aqua4, Aqua5, JC1 and JC2 Squads = £17 p.m.
JC3, JC3-Coast and JC4 Squads = £24 p.m.
Dynamo = £17 p.m.

For squad training hours view the Swimming Time-Table.

You must pay the subsequent Monthly Fees by a bank standing order every month. Please take the club’s bank detail for starting the standing order from the notice board or the web. You should also notify the payment amount and the starting date to the Club Treasurer.

The monthly fee covers pool hire, coaching fee and other associated training costs. It also includes the S.A.S.A Club Membership fee for the following year because the S.A.S.A. Membership has to be renewed annually in February. Monthly fees are to be paid by the bank standing order mandate.

The club members who are in COAST squad pay £20.10 annually to cover their S.A.S.A. fees for the following year. This amount is payable on February.

Step 4: Prepare to Pay Gala Fees

Gala Fee will be due after attending a gala (under review). This must be paid promptly after it is published on the Club notice board and the website. The amount varies depending on the number of participating events (usually £3 - £6 per swim event).

The club regularly sends its squads in various swimming galas organised in Aberdeen area and beyond. Attending gala is not mandatory but encouraged. The qualifying candidates are published in advance by the Club Gala Co-ordinator on the club notice board and the website. The Club also organise a Club Annual Gala near Christmas time where all members irrespective of age and ability take part in the fun.
